A registered nurse for 24 years and a Family Nurse Practitioner for 14 years, practicing in multiple settings including: family practice, urgent care, emergency departments, administration, chronic pain and palliative medicine. She is currently the Palliative Medicine Clinical Coordinator for the Baptist Healthcare System in Memphis, TN. Her primary focus is expansion of the palliative medicine program into other hospitals of the Baptist Healthcare System, as well as expanding the current program into the outpatient setting. She is board certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, where she is the past TN State Representative. She is also a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. And recently became an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse.

Brett Is a chronic pain expert, working for more than 20 years with chronic pain patients in a variety of settings. She has opened and directed two chronic pain practices. She currently serves on the TN Chronic Pain Task Force. She is a director at large of the TN Pain Society. Brett received the 2015 AANP State Excellence Award for Tennessee for her work across the state on the TN Chronic Pain Task Force, as well as advocating for TN Full Practice Authority for Nurse Practitioners. She was also awarded the 2017 Memphis Business Journal Healthcare Hero Award.
