Miriam Weyker Endowed Chair for Palliative Care and an Associate Professor, University of Rhode Island College of Nursing and is implementing an Inter-professional Palliative Care Minor.
As a Palliative Care academic educator, researcher, clinician, and advocate, I am passionate about optimizing the quality-of-life and care for persons, families, and communities living with serious illness. I am committed to providing the next generation of healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality, goal-concordant care through nursing and inter-professional education.
My teaching, scholarly work, funded research, and community service has evolved from over 30 years of experiences working with seriously ill adults and family caregivers in a variety of settings from the intensive care unit to the faith-based community.
I have led and participated in major palliative care initiatives at the local, state and national level that have been influential in advancing palliative care education, science, and policy.
