This year I will celebrate my 30th year of being a RN. Some days I feel as curious and “new” as I did in my first year. Nursing is such a dynamic profession!
I have been a hospice nurse since 2007. I had been working in critical care for several years, but I was drawn to caring for the patients whose plan of care focus shifted from curative measures to maintaining comfort. My family relocated from San Diego to Arlington, Texas so I figured it was a great opportunity to “relocate” specialties. I was lucky enough to interview with a director who took a chance hiring me, not knowing much about hospice care. That director remains a strong, positive influence in my life today.
I reside in Frisco, Tx with my husband and son. We love cooking, College GameDay and entertaining. I am a long distance runner, preferring trails to road and love to travel to races and camp.
I’ve been away from direct patient care for several years, but recently moved back to a more clinical role as a clinical team lead. I have just started the MSN in AGPCNP program at University of Texas at Arlington.
