Bio

Janelle Williamson is a nurse practitioner with 14 years of experience, with the last 6.5 years spent exclusively practicing in the field of Palliative Care. She previously worked at a community hospital where she helped to develop the palliative care service line. She currently practices at a trauma level II urban hospital with a robust palliative care program where she also serves as a lead APP. She is a founding member of Midwest HPNA, and served as the inaugural president. She has participated in several national committees as an HPNA representative including the AAHPM/HPNA Annual Assembly case submission selection committee, the NHPCO Virtual Conference planning committee and the ANA Palliative Care professional issues panel. She was a participant in the first HPNA Leadership Scholar program.  She currently serves as an HPNA state ambassador for the state of Kansas. She is a member of the Kansas State Palliative Care and Quality of Life Interdisciplinary Council and board member of a local non-profit hospice agency. Some of her favorite projects that she has contributed to include coordinating a "Before I Die" display in her local community, hosting local screenings of several palliative care focused documentaries including Extremis and Defining Hope and contributing to the creation of the Kansas State Palliative Care website. She continues to seek opportunities to take her closer to becoming an HPNA Palliative Nurse Fellow. She enjoys teaching and mentoring and learning from others!
