HPCC 2026 Item Writing Committee (IWC)

On the Item Writing Committee, you are expected to provide subject matter expertise for the ACHPN®, CHPN®, CHPLN® or CHPNA® examination. Each member independently provides their best judgments about appropriate practice in hospice and palliative care, verifies credible resource materials, and writes and revises exam items. PSI guides the process of item writing and development, and Examination Development Committee (EDC) members are available to mentor item writers.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Current HPCC Certification
• Will maintain certification throughout the one-year term
• Computer/Internet access

Commitment:

• Two-year term with the option for a second two-year term
• Attend an Item Writer Workshop conducted by HPCC and PSI
• Work independently to write and revise exam items as requested using the DEIB Style Guide provided by HPCC

Volunteers selected for an IWC will receive 10 HPAR points.
