In many of our conversations with our members and across our organization, HPNA has been discussing the importance of diversity, equity, Inclusion, and belonging in our strategic goals and support of our membership.  We are pleased to announce that we will be launching a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Task Force in September 2021.  We will be acting in the role of co-chairs for this Task Force.
 

The vision is for HPNA is to develop and promote an organizational culture that values the diversity of thought and perspective demonstrated by an inclusive organization.    

HPNA is looking for individuals who are passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion and committed to impacting the organization's progress toward the development of a culture that embraces equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). 

The DEIB Task Force will consist of roughly 14 members who will be asked to serve for a period of 12 months.  The time commitment is estimated to include one 1-hour monthly virtual meetings with up to 2 additional hours needed each month for work outside of the scheduled meetings.   

Requirements for members of DEIB Task Force 
  • HPNA Membership 
  • Ability to support team agenda/goals  
  • Communicates openly and honestly 
  • Has energy and enthusiasm for expanding awareness of diversity 
  • Will commit to the development of a culture that embraces equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging  
  • Will understand and adhere to the commitments of the Taskforce, including time expectations 
  • Support the vision of HPNA to develop and promote an organizational culture that values the diversity of thought and perspective delivered by an inclusive organization   
  • Previous diversity and inclusion task force or committee experience is preferred but not required 

 

At the end of 12 months, the HPNA Board of Directors will then decide if the task force should transition to a DEIB Committee.  Once DEIB Task Force members are selected and notified, the task force will focus on establishing goals, objectives, working agreements, and communications.  The DEIB Task Force will participate in a launch session in September and meet monthly for 12 months.
